Made-to-measure PVC balcony doors, also called patio doors or terrace doors depending on where you are, built for the exact opening you have at home. A balcony door is, in essence, a window that reaches the floor and gets walked through several times a day. That changes the priorities.

What changes compared with a window
Reinforced door leaf
It has to take more opening cycles and the odd slam. Which is why the profiles in this category are not quite the same as the window ones, even though they share a system.
More glass weight
A leaf that reaches the floor carries a good deal more glass than a window. The systems in the catalogue take glazing up to 48 mm and are fitted with Axor or Winkhaus hardware.
The threshold
It has to let people through without tripping while keeping the water out. How it is resolved depends on the step between the inside and the outside floor.
One leaf, two leaves or with a fixed sidelight
The "standard" sizes sold by the big DIY chains (80 × 210, 90 × 200, 160 × 210 in two leaves) exist because mass production is convenient, not because the openings in people's houses come that way. Here every balcony door leaves the factory at the width and height of your opening. What you do have to decide is the configuration.
- Passage up to 90–100 cm1 leaf
A single active leaf
The usual choice for a balcony or the way out to a terrace. Side-hung or tilt-and-turn.
- Wider opening2 leaves
Active and passive
One leaf for everyday use and a passive one, opened only when a piece of furniture has to come through.
- The cheaper option1 + fixed
Leaf with a fixed sidelight
An active leaf plus a glazed fixed sidelight. It works out cheaper than two leaves and loses less heat, because there is less profile.
- Wide terrace openingSliding
Sliding balcony door
For wide openings the normal move is to go sliding, which is a separate category in the catalogue.

Tilt-and-turn pays off more than on a window
It lets you air the living room with the door closed for all practical purposes, without a gust of wind flinging it wide open and without anyone being able to get in through it.
Which system to choose for a balcony door
The logic is the same as for windows, with a nuance or two. VEKA 70 and EKIPAZH ULTRA 72 cover most balconies and terraces in homes in mild climates. WDS 76 AD is the choice when the balcony door is large, faces north or the house is inland. And then there is EKIPAZH ULTRA 60, which is not the living-room door: it is the one for the glazed terrace, the utility room or the storeroom, where what you want is a good seal without overspending.
| System | Profile | Glazing | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| EKIPAZH ULTRA 60 | 60 mm · Uf from 1.59 W/m²K | 4 to 32 mm | Glazed terrace, utility room, sunroom or storeroom |
| VEKA 70 | 70 mm · Uf from 1.3 W/m²K | up to 40 mm | Home balconies and terraces in mild climates |
| EKIPAZH ULTRA 72 | 72 mm · Uf from 1.3 W/m²K | 24, 32 or 44 mm | Mild climates; developed on WHS 72 by VEKA |
| WDS 76 AD | 76 mm · Uf from 1.3 W/m²K | up to 48 mm | Large balcony doors, north-facing openings, inland Spain |
VEKA 70 and EKIPAZH ULTRA 72 take a Z-105 or T-105 door leaf, the Z with an outward overlap and the T flush-faced; WDS 76 AD takes T106 or Z114. All four systems accept coloured laminate.
PVC or aluminium for a balcony door?
Where PVC wins
- With the same glass, it insulates better against cold and noise than aluminium with a thermal break
- Doesn't corrode in salt air and never needs painting
- The frame doesn't go cold on the inside: in winter you don't get that line of condensation along the threshold that is so often mistaken for a leak
Where it has its limits
- When the leaf is very tall and you want a very slim profile, aluminium keeps its place
- The same goes when the façade calls for an anodised finish
- Residents' associations and listed buildings may fix the material or colour of the external joinery: worth checking before you order
Measuring, configuring and receiving the balcony door
Measure the opening
Width and height at three points each, and you keep the smallest. Into bare masonry, take off 10–15 mm per side for clearance and foam; if you are replacing an old balcony door without removing the sub-frame, measure the inside clear width of the sub-frame. If there is a roller-shutter box, measure the clear height below the box.
Configure
In the configurator you pick dimensions, profile system, opening type, glass, laminate colour and hardware, and the price including VAT appears on the spot. Opening direction and hinge side, always looking at the door from inside.
Production and delivery
Production starts once the order is confirmed and the door arrives in 3–4 weeks, shipped anywhere in mainland Spain and packed for long-distance transport. A two-leaf door with 44 mm glass weighs a fair bit, so it is worth having someone on hand to unload it.
Payment and warranty
Payment is online by card, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Bizum or bank transfer. Every system carries a three-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
The detail most often forgotten: the floor
Check whether the inside and outside paving are at the same level or how much of a step there is between them, because that decides how the threshold is resolved. And if you need a key-locking handle or an outside pull handle, ask us before confirming: it is easier to sort out in the factory than afterwards.

Doubts about the threshold or the configuration?
Better to ask before production starts than after.
